CHARACTER STUFFName: Myaxx
Aliases: n/a
Canon: Ben 10 (original series)Role: scientist-for-hire/black market tech dealer
Species: Chimera Sui Generis
Gender: female
Age: adult?? equivalent of like 33-40-ish, who knows how space squids age
Appearance: heck yeahOrigin story: Myaxx left her home planet of Murray as a young adult, mainly in reaction to the alarmingly sudden rise of wannabe-despot Vilgax (which turned out to be a good idea. The planet is named Vilgaxia now). She worked as a scientist, mostly focusing on engineering (and occasional Shady Dealings with Shady Individuals), and drifted from one project to the next until she was hired to work as renowned scientist Azmuth's assistant.
Although she and Azmuth co-created a number of devices, their most important achievement was the shapeshifting-inducing tool called the Omnitrix - which Azmuth took all the credit for. Furious and vindictive, Myaxx secretly replaced Azmuth's genetic 'watermark' on the Omnitrix with her own, before quitting and running off to continue drifting. Eventually, however, her black market dealings caught up with her, and she was arrested for selling the cloaking technology she and Azmuth had developed to a group of space pirates. Oops.
After a couple years of moping around on Incarcecon (space Alcatraz basically), she decided she was done with this crud and managed to sneak out on a garbage ship. She took an escape pod from the ship, not really having a plan beyond 'don't go back to space Alcatraz', which was good because if she did have a plan it likely would not involve being automatically put into stasis and warped lightyears away to some distant planet, right outside a particular city with an overabundance of superheroes.
Personality: Myaxx has survived through a combination of wits, physical power, and sheer cowardice. She will not hesitate to turn and run if it starts to seem like the safest option, and will gladly push someone else under the bus if THAT seems ideal. She is fully aware of her own selfish nature, and, while she will concede that her actions are not always 'right' or even really justified, she is largely unapologetic about them.
In addition, Myaxx is actually a pretty intelligent individual - she would just usually rather take the easy way out if the subject at hand happens not to interest her. If it DOES interest her then she will certainly get involved, and either way she will absolutely expect credit where credit is due (even if the credit is 'picked up a new soldering iron when mine broke', if that's all she did. Or 'travelled the galaxy gathering alien DNA samples and calculating the algorithms for the cloaking device that allowed Azmuth to work in peace with his location hidden'. Y'know. However much she's earned,
Azmuth.)
As untrustworthy as she is, she's unlikely to outright betray anyone, at least in any screw-you-over-and-run capacity. If she DOES decide to get back at a former employer, her particular methods of revenge tend to fall more under 'petty jabs' than literal backstabbing. More often she'll just kind of drift out of an alliance when she loses interest or feels it's not to her advantage anymore. Of course, if her efforts to drift out are met with enough resistance (threats, bribes, etc) of the right type, dissuading her may not be difficult.
Socially speaking, she tends to be cynical and snide with a side of pessimism. She is really not an especially pleasant individual to speak to. Though she can express sympathy toward others on occasion, such moments are not all that common; usually she reacts to other people's problems with sarcasm and whining.
Differences from canon: Didn't get broken out of space jail by Ben and co., had to do it herself. Beyond that there isn't much canon information about her from any point before she worked with Azmuth, so all that is pretty much a combination of general worldbuilding from the show and total guessing.
Power level: C-class
Powers: Myaxx is maybe eight feet tall so that's got to count for something. Her species as a whole tends to be really physically strong and durable, and she's really agile and quite skilled in close combat. In addition, the tentacles on her face and head are extremely sensitive to changes in air currents, temperature, and electromagnetic fields.
She routinely wears metal armor that covers her shoulders, forearms, lower legs, and torso. Her armor also has a translator built in, which, though it still needs to be exposed to a given language for a while to be of any use, can 'learn' a given language much faster than she would be able to normally, and will translate both text and speech (though it has to learn them largely separately); however, even after it's picked up a language pretty well, it can still get confused by puns or idioms and the like. Either way, it's her only method of communicating with those who don't know her native language, so she would be kind of screwed over if anything were to
happen to it.
Myaxx is extremely intelligent and highly knowledgeable of the technology of a number of civilizations. She could theoretically make any number of weird alien devices given the proper materials and could probably jury-rig some cool stuff if stuck in a tough spot (though she would likely complain about the INADEQUATE AND UNACCEPTABLE tools the whole time).
Team affiliation: HERSELF mostly. She's pretty much starting out on her own here, and the permanence of any partnerships she forms later cannot be guaranteed.

Hello,
Azmuth. In case you haven't noticed by the time you get this, I'm gone. Not as in 'left for the day' or 'went out to get more supplies', but actually gone. I quit.
Frankly, if this comes as a surprise to you, you clearly have not been paying attention - not that
that would come as any surprise to
me.See, the thing is, as shocking as this may sound, I was working for you under the assumption that I would actually
get credit for my part in this whole thing. Horrifically unreasonable, I know.
And I
did my part. Oh, did I
ever do my part- have you ever tried to negotiate with the Tetramand Empress, Azmuth? Of course you haven't because that was part of
my job, and she was convinced that this was part of some kind of plot against her planet.
Five days, Azmuth. That is how long it took me to convince her, with near-nonstop debates and assurances and bribes and evidence, that we weren't going to lead the Tetramand Empire to its downfall by
taking a DNA sample.
Thanks for sending in those records to help my case, by the way, except oh wait, you didn't do that, I had to go through something like five different layers of security to get them because
you couldn't be bothered to just send them over yourself. Probably too busy revelling in your own intellect, safely hidden with the cloaking device that I developed for you. Not that you'll ever admit to my involvement in that, either.
I doubt you're still listening by this point; you've probably decided that you have more important things to do than listen to the grievances of former employees. Which, of course, means that you won't have any way of knowing about my final
surprise for you, and, related to that, you definitely won't bother to check your DNA signature on the back of the Omnitrix. So goodbye and good riddance, you old hack.
[end message]
Prose sample: The
plan had been that Myaxx would hack the communication blocks, allowing her to activate the backup system which she had designed in case of an emergency (prior to her arrest, of course), directing it to infiltrate Incarcecon's security system, including unlocking a particular door, which she would make sure to place herself near, allowing her to slip into a transport ship hangar, board a ship, and get
out of there.Somewhere, though, something went... wrong. Badly wrong. Probably around the time another prisoner noticed her trying to escape and decided to rat her out. So far she had managed to evade the guards, even getting so far as to get aboard a garbage ship, minutes before its departure, but now she was stuck; they were bound to realize that there was only one place she could have gone, and then she would have nowhere to run.
She pressed against a wall, keeping to the shadows as a crew member wandered by. Judging by the signs, she was heading for the escape pods, which would be pretty much ideal for her purposes.
She hurried down the hall, keeping an eye out for more possible threats - cameras, crew, anything that could keep her from getting out of there.
Take a right here, left at the turn after this one - damn it, there's someone there, nevermind, double back...Eventually she found herself right in front of the pods, with nothing between her and them except for a long... expanse... of empty hallway... with nowhere to hide.
Great.Myaxx gritted her teeth, allowed herself a quick look around, just to be sure nobody was already coming, and ran. She wasn't sure if anyone heard or saw her; in a few strides she slammed her palm into the 'open' button on the door ("Come on, come
on, why do these things always have to open so slowly-"), ducked through, and jumped into the nearest pod, pressing the helpfully-labelled 'auto-launch' button.
The sound of the pod door shutting and the launch sequence initiating was like hearing some unspoken permission for her to breathe again. She dropped back against the seat, grinning. "So much for the 'inescapable' prison planet," she muttered. Now if only she could figure out how to pilot this thing and decide where she was going-
"Auto-launch selected. Navigational systems locked, occupant biology analyzed; warping to habitable location in three... two..."Wait,
what?
